Agree to Disagree?
Jesus replied, “Are you not in error
because you do not know the Scriptures
or the power of God?”
(Mark 12:24)
Agree To Disagree
You have no doubt heard many times that as Christians we should “Agree to disagree.”
Agreeing to disagree makes Jesus look powerless and is an extremely sinful agreement that needs to be repented of.
The church looks and is pathetic because they agree to disagree.
Such only shows to the worldly that God does not have the power to cause His children to walk in agreement.
Much error concerning the Scriptures and Christian life are a result of two things.
1. Error because they refuse surrender to all Scriptures.
2. Error because they refuse the power of God to crucify religious self.
(Mark 12:24)
Remember 1 John 2:6 that as disciples following hard after Jesus we are to walk as Jesus walked.
The true disciple will amaze others at their understanding of the Scriptures because like Jesus their understanding and obedience of Scriptures came to them without study.
(John 7:15)
Since Jesus does not disagree with Himself those taught the Scriptures by the Holy Spirit will be in total, 100% agreement.
Not just agreement of mind, but in process of thinking, in emotion and in the heart.
This is easy to understand, but difficult to achieve because we are stubborn and do not want to give up our lives, our opinions and our favorite church truths.
We refuse to suffer against our religious pride and the result is a shameful sinful agreement to disagree.
Agreeing to disagree is for lazy disciples of Jesus that will be sorely rebuked come Judgment Day.
When we agree to disagree we mock God, shame Jesus and are in total disobedience to the command Paul wrote:
(1 Corinthians 1:10)
Notice perfectly united in mind but also in the way the thoughts of the mind come into unity with the will of Jesus.
Such individuals are truly dead to their life, their wills and their opinions.
A church that really loves God and God only will be united in Scripture, in the process of thoughts, and in the energy of Love with One Spirit and Purpose.
This is how you spot a truly spiritual church.
(Philippians 2:1-2)
To those who do not believe in the Living God, or do not know the power of God, this can look like a cult because it really is the same Jesus being Lord of each person’s mind, heart and direction in life.
It is Jesus working Himself in each person and Jesus is not in disagreement with Himself.
Those who are mature in the sufferings and joys of Jesus know that God will bring everything into perfect harmony.
Those who are mature in the way of the crucified life know if there is a difference of opinion God will make clear the Truth.
Those who are mature know this because they grew up from being babies in Jesus to being in perfect unity of doctrine, purpose and love by the Power of God.
It is only when disciples have been brought to maturity in Jesus by falling to the ground and dying to self that they can wait upon God for even more blessed perfect unity.
(Philippians 3:15)
Where this unity is produced by the power of the Holy Spirit, God is able to demonstrate to the world the Truth of Life.
Where there is agreement to disagree we make Jesus a pathetic object to be worshipped.
Many churches are powerless, empty headed social groups that confuse the ungodly and provide them with an excuse not to come to church because there is no Holy Spirit perfect unity.
The first church, right after the crucifixion of Jesus was known for not agreeing to disagree.
No wonder the Apostles could preach with great power while the grace of God was strong on every church member.
(Acts 4:32-33)
To spot a truly godly church look for:
Having all things in common, a sharing of everything.
A unity that goes beyond a simple doctrinal statement. Rather look for a unity where the whole church is one in heart and mind.
This is how victories are won for Jesus.
This is how the gospel call goes out with real power.
With one spirit, one unity of mind, one thought process, one heart, as if every member were really one man, there is a contending against sin and sinful man.
How could it be otherwise as Jesus is one man, The Man, The Lord and The Son of God manifested in each of His disciples.
(Philippians 1:27)
This message is brought to you by www.luke1425.org because Jesus stated that all who would come after Him had best sit down and count the cost of giving up their opinions, doctrines and purposes in life.
