Missionaries: Twice As Fit For Hell
There is many a missionary effort going forth over land and sea, but when much is measured by the full gospel, as Jesus said, their converts are “twice as fit for hell.”
Not that the converts are necessarily going to hell, just twice as fit for hell because that which is called godly in their lives is not holy. Paul was fully aware that he might preach to others but be disqualified himself, so too, many a convert will be forgiven because they were taught with a faulty foundation, but the builders of the foundation run the very real danger of being disqualified. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (1 Corinthians 9:27) By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. (1 Corinthians 3:10)
Like the widow who gave all she had to a corrupted church, she will be rewarded as Pharisee and Sadducee perish. As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “I tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.” (Luke 21:1-6)
When the full gospel message is not preached then that which should not be blessed is blessed in a person’s life.
The individual is unable to see in their heart and life that which must be crucified with Christ.
Instead the missionary and believer views every impulse, thought, and project they are doing as blessed by God. Pride becomes false humility, lust becomes a blessing from God, and greed is seen as having faith in God’s provision.
Their blindness is a result of the whitewashed preaching and teaching that justifies what is impure until sin explodes out in the open.
When sin was “little” it was justified and once the deceitfulness of sin has grown an evil weed chokes out much life in the church. Indeed, in many situations the weeds have overtaken the church and it must be admitted the church is dead before revival can begin again.
In short the Pharisee Sadducee missionary worker creates religious images of their denomination for individuals to follow. It is a form of Christianity that God calls idolatry.
The Pharisee
Pharisees select which scriptures they will accept.
To be a Pharisee all one must do is ignore certain scriptures and mix other scriptures they accept into an impure mess of religious beliefs.
How sad that so very many are Pharisees picking and choosing what to believe, what not to obey, and when to obey what they choose to obey while never obeying anything they do not desire to obey. Such are Pharisees in the fullest sense of the word.
Pharisees and teachers of the law are very selective in what scriptures and concepts they accept. Without the cross of Jesus present most scriptures are misinterpreted and many more are never obeyed let alone believed in. Instead, God’s living word is set aside and replaced with opinion, commentary, thoughts, denominational dogmas, church traditions, and “other interpretations” you know. The old get out of obedience excuse, “I do not want to debate scriptures.” Fine, I do not want to debate scriptures, I want to hear from the Holy Spirit now and obey now. Now what is your real problem?
Pharisees have chosen their opinion, Bible studies, and commentaries instead of the Living Word of God by way of the suffering cross.
Pharisees are individuals who pick and choose which Scriptures to accept and reject. Thus the Full Message of Jesus is always rejected, persecuted, and often prosecuted.
The Pharisee group runs with endless commentary, denominational dogma and very specific, selectively approved scriptures, traditions, and human designed creeds of acceptable religious behavior.
The voice the Pharisees listens to is each other words.
The Pharisees’ echo chamber reverberates with stolen words they steal from each other. “Therefore,” declares the Lord , “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. (Jeremiah 23:30)
The Sadducee
The Sadducee selects which aspects of God to believe in. The Sadducee’s part might believe in tongues, but not water baptism. Or a different Sadducee’s part in the soul might believe in neither tongues nor the power of water baptism. It really does not matter, it is the picking and choosing what to believe in that makes one a Sadducee. When we tell God what we will obey and not obey, believe and not believe we make our faith a form of idolatry.
So much of the Christian faith is nothing more than idolatry labeled Christianity. This is why Paul writes, …no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:3) Clearly I can get individuals to repeat the words, “Jesus is Lord”, but to say the words, “Jesus is Lord,” while being crucified with Christ requires the power of God through the Holy Spirit.
The Sadducee rejects all spiritual aspects of Scripture and God. Picking and choosing what to have faith in.
Sadducees have no real faith in any Scripture and so preach a doctrine moral akin to living a good moral just life.
The voice the Sadducee listens to are each individual’s own words. Many have a mixture of Pharisee and Sadducee milling around in their hearts, so you often see them stealing words from commentaries, sermon helps, and church tradition guidelines.
The Sadducee’s light is their own religious opinion. This is why God warns that when they are in hell they will be laid flat while being tortured. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment. (Isaiah 50:11)
Pharisee and Sadducee Agree
Pharisees and Sadducees both agree that they like their positions in the religious world of Christianity and the secular world of society. They prize their position and power in the world above the Scriptures of God. The status of being a “missionary” will neither save yourself nor your hearers.
In short, call your support home church to repentance.
It is long past due for missionaries on the front lines to consider those behind the lines another mission field for the full gospel. In short, call your support home church to repentance.
Pharisees and Sadducees always combine their power to oppose, persecute, and, if they can, prosecute the Full Message of Love in Jesus Christ.
When it comes to the Full Message of the New Life all who refuse the cross of Christ in their life will come together in unity to oppose, silence, and destroy.
Secular and religious will become friends with all who live as enemies of the cross and seek to oppose and prosecute the true gospel. That day Herod and Pilate became friends–before this they had been enemies. (Luke 23:12) This is where you find governing authorities and Churchie folks coming together to prosecute the full gospel message of the new life in Jesus. As Paul declared many times: For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. (Philippians 3:18-19)
Disciple of Jesus
The Disciple of Jesus surrenders all to God.
The Disciple of Jesus believes all.
The Disciple of Jesus surrenders, believes, and obeys all.
The Disciple of Jesus takes God at His Word. All of His Word.
The Disciple of Jesus seeks to obey all of God’s commands, laws, ways, teachings, and will of the Holy Spirit.
If you desire to point out a scripture I have wrong, please be fully prepared to point how you have it correct. That is, how you believe and obey the scripture under examination. You know: Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Timothy 4:16)
Now you understand a little more clearly why there is so much persecution. Those who often oppose have zero interest in any time of obedience that comes from faith. Jesus is not truly lord of their life. Their church, denomination, and personal religious opinions are lord of their lives. The true faith, that is neither Pharisaic or Sadducee, is through Him and for His name’s sake. We received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. (Romans 1:5)
The Disciple of Jesus surrenders to all Scriptures letting the Holy Spirit work, will, and act according to God’s will no matter the cost, no matter the opposition, and no matter the person who is offended.
The Pharisee picks and chooses which scriptures to accept whereas the Holy Spirit takes the Disciple of Jesus to the cross where all scriptures are obeyed by a suffering against sin kind of faith.
The Sadducee ignores both the power of God in favor of their religious outlook and are mere religious men and women. Whereas the Disciple of Jesus has no religious outlook or denominational principals but receives from the Living God as to what is good and evil because they are being crucified with Christ as they walk the narrow road.
Let all missionaries forsake their church denomination dogma and embrace of the Full Message of the New Life.
You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are. (Matthew 23:15)
Pray that all in the mission field would more fully surrender to Jesus letting the cross crucify the Pharisee and Sadducee that is all too alive in mission work. Let theirs be a repentance from the impurity in Christian dogma that the pure gospel call of Jesus might ring out with clarity. Do not let the flattery of being a part of a mission team blind you to the fact there is much need of repentance on this matter.
Let there be a cleansing in the mission field that those who desire all of Jesus may be given all of Jesus by missionaries that have surrendered to all of Jesus. Why be made accountable to God for leaving His flock weak and half prepared to follow Jesus? Remember there is a good reason teachers will be judged more severally. Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. (James 3:1)
Missionaries who fail in this repentance for too easily make themselves ripe for rebuke and possible damnation. Let there be no more compromise that denominations force upon missionaries. Let the few brave men and women who love all of the Truth repent, trust God, and demand all of the Truth. Odds if you begin to preach and live the Full Message you will loose your support of men – but you will gain the support of the Living God.
I did this decades ago and God has never forsaken me.
Be brave missionary of God, be brave!
T. Williams
If anyone does not love the Lord–a curse be on him.
Come, O Lord ! (1 Corinthians 16:22)
