The Sin & Crime of Favoritism

1 Timothy 5:21
I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.

A wicked man accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the course of justice.
(Proverbs 17:23)

The Sin of Favoritism

I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels,
to keep these instructions without partiality,
and to do nothing out of favoritism.
– God –
(1 Timothy 5:21)

God had the Apostle James write down that no church should show favoritism.

My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism. (James 2:1)

If you are a true disciple of Jesus the Holy Spirit will cause you to grow-up in Christ and learn to live a life without any favoritism.

Sad to say the world and the church is full of the sin of favoritism.

We have a favorite actor, favorite author, favorite politician and parents even have their favorite child.

Indeed, the Christian church is ripe for judgment because of favoritism.

The church has its favorite pastor, preacher, believer or ministry to the point that large scale hypocrisy goes unnoticed until it is too late.

There is an idol in the land called “family” so we give favorite idol worship to our family.

We show favoritism to the rich or to the poor and all our ways become perverted because of the sin of favoritism.

In the legal systems around the world Judges show favoritism to their fellow workers.

Indeed, the reason there is so much injustice is because lawyers, prosecutors, police and those in authority refuse to see the planks in their own eyes first before trying to help others. After all to Police, Judges and Prosecutors their favorite person is themselves and those who flatter their self-centered idolatry.

Indeed, Judges have their favorite individuals they like to put away in prison.

Judges even have their favorite laws they like to force upon the humble in the land.

  • This is why God commanded: Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great but judge your neighbor fairly. Leviticus 19:15

The sin of favoritism is no small matter in the sight of a Holy God.

The sin of favoritism is insidious and permeates every person, family, institution, entertaining movie, government agency and church.

Do not think God is going to cut you any slack because you are a policeman, judge, pastor or even a good father or grandmother.

Writing to Christians the Apostle Paul warns that we will each be judged without any favoritism by a Holy God.

  • Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. Colossians 3:25

Most of the time we see favoritism poke out its ugly head from within the legal systems of justice around the world.

Judges show favoritism to their colleagues, police to the family of police and prosecutors never speak ill of another prosecutor. Favoritism is the sin of impurity and defiles the manifestations of pure true God-given love.

The sin of favoritism is the sin of impurity that destroys the very foundations of goodness.

Favoritism is the sin of impurity and defiles the manifestations of pure true God-given love.

This sin of favoritism distorts our vision and corrupts our prayers.

We have often heard and probably stated that a person should support their family members just because they are family. Why do you think the Devil repeats this propaganda in movie after movie?

Families will show favoritism to other family members without the slightest sense of guilt.

We pray more for the lost soul of a family member than we do for our pagan neighbor.

Whether someone claims to be a Christian or not there is such a blind obedience to the sin of favoritism if a family member were a criminal, they will declare such still a good person at heart.

No matter the sin among family members we are quick to excuse it because we wallow in the sin of favoritism.

If a family member sins, we are quick to excuse it and paint over the guilt with a very large bucket of whitewash thus we get in the way of God really dealing with the family member’s sins.

Note that until you grow to maturity in not showing favoritism to family members it is best to get out of the way so that others who are mature in the holiness of Jesus can preach the Truth to your family.

Remember the blind cannot lead the blind.

The only way to break the power of favoritism is to forcefully humble oneself under the sin crushing hand of the Living God.

Listen to the words of the Apostle Paul as he commands the young preacher Timothy to strike hard at the possibility of sinning by showing favoritism.

  • I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism. 1 Timothy 5:21

The possibility of sinning by showing favoritism is so deadly that Paul brings up four unquestionable points.

1. I Paul, an Apostle of Jesus charge you to show no favoritism.
2. In the sight of God, he commands Timothy to show no favoritism.
3. Paul adds Jesus Christ to the command to show no favoritism.
4. Finally, Paul pulls no punches as he points to all the elect angels to do nothing out of favoritism.

Nothing that is done in the church or in society should have any indication of favoritism.

After all sin is sin and justice demand justice be applied to all.

Indeed, the truth is the Truth no matter who you are in association with and favoritism causes an increase of lies in the home.

No favoritism will be shown to mom, dad, son, daughter, grandma, policeman, judge, or prosecutor be they rich or poor.

And since a Christian is being created in the image of Jesus there should be no display of any favoritism.

There is no favoritism to be shown to a pastor, elder, deacon or the believer you love so much.

As the book of Romans declares with God there is zero favoritism in His loving character.

The blunt sounding Scripture reads as…

  • For God does not show favoritism. Romans 2:11

Just another reason why Jesus commands each individual person to sit down and count the cost of what it will be to become a person that shows no favoritism.

Because God will require you to show no favoritism to any family member or fellow human it is best to sit down and count the cost.

To count the cost before attempting to follow Jesus because you will certainly be led by the Holy Spirit to have zero favoritism no matter the cost to you personally.

This short video is brought to you by www.luke1425.org because Jesus declared all should sit down and count the cost before following Him.
