Mercy & Grace
In a time when words are losing their meaning and thus their power let us sit down and consider exactly what God means by the words “mercy” and “grace.”
Because the Christian Church idolizes cheap grace the lines between the word mercy and grace are confused.
We read in Ephesians 2:4-5 the balance between “mercy” and “grace” according to the Living God.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5
God’s mercy is more than being forgiven of one’s sins.
God’s mercy touches grace and grace touches mercy.
When both are touching each other properly the Christian is empowered both in heart and life to be obedient to God.
The mercy and grace of God are the power to become a different individual.
Mercy has within its element a grace that if surrendered to will transform an individual into a different person.
It is a Christianity with power!
If you want the power to overcome your sins then you must accept God’s mercy and grace on His terms of definition.
Anything else is a cheap imitation …a lie.
Listen to the power that is available for those who are denying themselves, hating their lives and picking up a cross to follow Jesus. To no others is this mercy and grace of power given.
God does not give power to those refusing to repent of their sins every day.
Let us read Titus 2:11-15
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach. Titus 2:11-15
Notice what kind of power God’s mercy and grace will seek to produce in your life.
Grace and Mercy teach you to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions.
Grace and Mercy will empower you to be self-controlled and upright in your heart and actions.
Grace and Mercy produces disciples of Jesus that are very eager to do with is good.
This mercy and grace is not locked up in heaven but is a power for this “present age.”
Grace and mercy is a power that should be seen in everyone and every church that claims to be Christian.
This is why the Apostle Peter could demand that Christians get rid of all hypocrisy in their lives.
Because the power to live self-controlled lives…
The power to live a holy life…
The power to be obedient to the Holy Spirit is for right now.
Peter wrote in 1 Peter 2:1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all hypocrisy…

Because Jesus instructed everyone who would be forgiven of their sins to sit down and count the cost before attempting to let the grace of God work it’s mighty power in their lives.
